Mixed Age Class
At Fremont Parents' Nursery School (FPNS), we offer a unique, mixed-age environment where children aged 2 years through kindergarten learn, play, and grow together. Our program is designed to foster independence, creativity, and a sense of belonging within a supportive community.
Flexible Enrollment Options
All programs run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. To enroll for the start of the academic year, children must be 2 years old by September 1st.
Choose the schedule that best fits your family’s needs:
Option 1: 5 days per week (Monday to Friday)
Option 2: 3 days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
Option 3: 2 days per week (Tuesday & Thursday)
Note: Potty training is not required for enrollment. Our educators are happy to support your child wherever they are in their potty-training journey.
The Co-op Experience:
As a parent-participation cooperative, we believe that education is a family journey. We require a parent or family member (including grandparents or other relatives) to participate once a week for each child enrolled.
This hands-on involvement allows you to be an active part of your child’s development while building lasting connections with other families.
A Typical Day
-
Working parents arrive to help teachers set the "stage" for the day. We rotate their stations every month, so sometimes parents prepare snacks on their workday. Other times we supervise outdoor play or facilitate indoor activities
-
Children arrive and can participate in any of the prepared activities (puzzles, building blocks, play dough, art, etc.). Or they can play freely in the classroom.
-
During the Opening Circle, the children and teachers enjoy a story, sing our welcome song, and set the intention for the morning.
-
After circle time, children enjoy snacks and indoor/outdoor play. Our staff and parents provide a supportive environment that encourages independent social exploration.
-
We conclude with a Closing Circle to share stories, reflect on our discoveries, and sing our goodbye song.
-
At the end of the day, parents and caregivers pick-up their children. Teachers provide a quick debrief for working parents to share meaningful observations and daily highlights.
